A MOTHER and her children are doing a charity fun run after three of their relatives’ lives were turned upside down by heart problems.

Vennisa Amin from Woodford Green will be joined by her nine-year-old son Krishan and six-year-old daughter Annika on the start line of a 5K run for Heart Research UK this month.

The fun run will take place at Hackney Marshes on August 14 to raise money for improvements in preventing, treating and curing heart disease.

The 39-year-old mother-of-two decided she wanted to take part after two of her uncles went through triple bypass heart surgery and her 75-year-old father suffered a stroke last year.

Despite the stroke, her father Kanubhai is now fit enough to take part in the fun run himself alongside his three-year-old grandson Rohan.

Vennisa said: “We’re all really looking forward to the run, because it gives us the chance to do something together as a family.

“I’ve always thought it’s essential to be a role model for my children in terms of keeping myself healthy, so I took up running to stay fit.

“Since then I’ve run two marathons in a year, and am planning on another one in October.”

The date of the event is an emotional one for the family as it marks one year since Vennisa’s grandfather died of bronchitis at 103-years-old.

Although he will not be taking part, Vennisa’s husband Nikhelesh will be cheering his wife, father-in-law, children and nephew on from the side lines.

The run has been organised by sandwich company Subway as part of a joint effort with Heart Research UK to promote a healthy lifestyle and the reduced risk of heart problems.

If you would like to sign up, fees are £7 per person and children under 12-years-old go free. Families can register on the day, for £9 per person.
