THIRTY-THREE new foster carers are needed to meet the increasing demand for stable homes for children in the borough.
A series of events to encourage people to sign up to become foster carers will be held as part of Foster Care Fortnight from May 8 to 21.
Foster carers in Waltham Forest receive up to 60 per cent off their council tax bill and an allowance of up to £445 a week per child.
Waltham Forest Council said there is a particular need for people to care for teenagers in the borough.
Councillor Grace Williams, cabinet member for children and young people, said: ''Foster carers can make an immeasurable difference to the life of a vulnerable young person.
“Foster Care Fortnight is a great opportunity for us to highlight the fantastic offer we have for foster carers in the borough.
‘’Our foster carers already do an amazing job transforming the lives of vulnerable young people in our borough. I would urge anyone who is interested in fostering to get in touch with the council.”
A lunch for those thinking of signing up to be foster carers will be held at Walthamstow Town Hall on Saturday May 20 at 12 noon.
