Plans have been unveiled to build a new affordable housing development on a car park in a busy shopping area.
Waltham Forest Council has launched a consultation for residents on plans to build homes on the Stanley Road Car Park, off Hoe Street in the Bakers Arms area.
The council says the car park has low levels of usage and it instead wants to build an unspecified number of homes at the site.
If plans were to go ahead, the number of parking spaces at the car park would be “significantly” reduced, with plans to close the site completely for 18 months while work takes place.
The consultation, which opened on Monday (July 3) will give residents an opportunity to have their say on the potential development until August 14.
Councillors are then expected to make a decision on whether or not to push ahead with plans in October, before any project would be subject to more planning consultations.
