An environmental charity are appealing for volunteers to help out at an upcoming litter pick.
Clean Up UK, which focuses on combatting litter problems in areas of deprivation, has teamed up with The Green Way for this month’s event.
The group will focus on the area surrounding Hollow Ponds, Whipps Cross Road, Leytonstone after collecting dozens of bags of rubbish in August.
Chris Boudidit of The Green Way, said: “I have grown up in Walthamstow and I used to come to Hollow Ponds when I was a kid.
“We collected loads of rubbish at last month’s clean-up, like cans and bottles.
“I think when people are walking along the street they just throw them in the bushes and it just built up over the months and even years.”
The team of volunteers will meet at 11am on Sunday September 24 at the log cabin behind the carpark.
