A public meeting will be held to discuss street safety in light of a recent spate of incidents which left a teenager dead.

18-year-old Kacem Mokrane was stabbed in the stomach in Mount Pleasant Road, Walthamstow on Thursday, November 16 and died four days later.

The incident was one of four attacks during a seven day period in the Walthamstow area which police believe were gang-related.

An 18-year-old man was stabbed as he ordered a sandwich in Subway in St James Street and a 17-year-old boy was shot in a fast food restaurant in Wood Street.

Five people including a 16-year-old boy have been arrested on suspicion of murdering Kacem.

A Section 60 Order was issued, giving police stop and search powers, and armed officers were called in to patrol neighbourhoods.

MP for Walthamstow Stella Creasy, Waltham Forest Council Leader Clare Coghill and MPS Borough Commander Richard Tucker will attend the meeting on Friday (December 1).

It will take place at Whittingham Primary Academy in Higham Hill Road, Walthamstow from 7pm to 9pm. Doors open at 6.30pm.
