A man was sectioned under the Mental Health Act after police removed him from train tracks near Highams Park Overground station last night.
A police helicopter and several officers attended the incident which lasted about half an hour on Thursday (August 2).
There were no reports of any injuries.
A spokesman for British Transport Police said: “We were called at 10.51pm to the tracks near Highams Park, to reports that a man was on the tracks.
“Officers attended and a man was taken to a place of safety. The incident was over by 11.20pm.”
A spokesman for London Ambulance Service said they sent an advanced paramedic and an ambulance crew to the scene.
He added: "We assessed a person at the scene and took them to hospital.”
