A hospital unveiled a new ‘green’ restaurant this week to help cut the amount of waste it produces.
Whipps Cross Hospital in Leytonstone wants staff and visitors to be mindful of how they dispose of plastic packaging and cutlery and is encouraging them to recycle.
Customers at the environmentally-friendly eatery will be rewarded with a discount on the price of food and drinks if they bring their own reusable mugs and containers.
Alastair Wilson of Barts Health NHS Trust’s facilities management team said: “Not only does the new restaurant look great, it also helps us in our efforts to reduce waste and be more sustainable.
“We’ve had fantastic comments from patients and staff who are delighted with the improvements.
“We’re really pleased that our food and drink suppliers, Elior, have helped us make the new restaurant a reality.”
