A person was trapped in a car for close to an hour following a two vehicle crash last night.
At 11.56pm crews from Waltham Abbey and Loughton fire stations were called to Sewardstone Road in Waltham Abbey.
Once there they found two vehicles which had crashed.
The fire fighters set about releasing one of the occupants who had been trapped inside.
They were out of the vehicle by 0.37am and were left in the care of the ambulance service.
A spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 11.53pm yesterday to reports of a road traffic collision on Sewardstone Road, Waltham Abbey.
"An ambulance crew and an ambulance officer were sent to the scene to help.
"One patient, with a possible back injury, was taken to North Middlesex Hospital for further care.”
