The All Party-Parliamentary Group (APPG) on British Muslims will hold a community consultation tonight as it works to find a definition of Islamophobia.
Speakers at the event include Wes Streeting, MP for Ilford North and chairman of the group, Naz Shah, Shadow Minister for Women and Equalities, and Redbridge Council Leader Jas Athwal.
Detective superintendent Shabnam Chaudri of the Met, who has previously been awarded for her efforts fighting hate crimes, will also make an appearance.
It will be held at Gardens of Peace in Elmbridge Road, Hainault, from 6pm to 8pm.
A spokesman for the APPG on British Muslims said it has received wide-ranging written evidence from political representatives, statutory bodies and Muslims organisations for its inquiry into the working definition of Islamophobia
The process has now been opened to the public to have their say as it is “extremely important to include grassroots actors and communities in this highly significant inquiry process”.
