Free taster sessions in hockey, beach volleyball and athletics are up for grabs at a new £11 million sports centre.

The Feel Good Too Centre, off Ive Farm Close in Leyton, is inviting people to take part in a day’s activities on Saturday, October 6.

The newly opened site includes two floodlit all-weather pitches, a 60 metre running tracks, six beach volleyball courts and a café.

It also includes 40 growing beds which people can hire to grow their own fruit, flowers and vegetables.

Waltham Forest Council’s cabinet member for economic growth and high streets, Cllr Simon Miller, said: “The council has invested around £11 million in new facilities at the Feel Good Too Centre to provide first class sport and community facilities for residents.

“This is part of our commitment to improve the life chances of our residents by encouraging people to be fit and healthy and to provide a borough which is a great place in which to live and work.”

Sports clubs including Waltham Forest Hockey Club, Side Out Beach Volleyball Club and Eton Manor Athletics Club will be running the taster sessions from 11am until 4pm.

Anyone interested in taking part is asked to turn up on the day wearing training shoes. Moulded stud footwear is not allowed.
