Amid all the Christmas celebrations, most people will sit down to turkey for their Christmas dinner. Sadly, this means that turkeys will suffer immensely because of the season, with around two million being killed in December alone.

Turkeys are complex social animals which live up to ten years in the wild. However, 90 per cent of the turkeys will be killed at only a few months old after being bred in factory farms and living out their lives in cramped, dirty, crowded sheds. Their deaths are very cruel too, as they often have their throats slit while still conscious and some are even boiled alive.

Fortunately, there are many delicious vegetarian and vegan alternatives so we can enjoy our Christmas dinner whilst bringing genuine peace and goodwill to all living beings.
