Mary Poppins, Red Riding Foot, Maleficent and Cleopatra got together to share stories for World Book Day.
Pupils and teachers from Eden Girls' School in Walthamstow dressed up as their favourite literary characters to celebrate World Book Day yesterday.
Popular literary characters including suffragette Mrs Banks, the Cow who jumped over the moon with the cat and the fiddle, Mary and her little lamb, The Mat Hatter and Pennywise the Clown, were seen throughout the day.
Principal at the school on Blackhorse Lane, Shahina Ahmad, said: "Good reading habits start early and children who share books with others are more likely to develop language skills and advanced reading levels. We want to engender in our pupils a lifelong love of reading and literacy to fire up their creativity and imaginations.
"The pupils really enjoy getting dressed up for World Book Day each year and there were some fantastic costumes worn. It is a fun way to encourage all our pupils to become avid readers."
