The cause of the huge fire that destroyed part of town house has been revealed.
Around 40 firefighters and six fire engines were needed to tackle a ferocious blaze that ripped through the ground floor of a house in Brandesbury Square, Woodford Green yesterday.
Most of the ground floor, half of the first floor and half of the second floor of the town house was damaged by fire.
The fire also destroyed the staircase from ground to first floor and first floor to second floor level.
One person managed to escape the property before the Brigade reached the scene around 1.40pm.
Fire crews from Ilford, Woodford, Chingford, Tottenham and Leyton fire stations attended the scene.
There were no injuries reported and the fire was under control at 3.43pm.
After an investigation, the fire is believed to have been caused by an electrical fault.
