Around 40 people got muddy for money whilst taking on a 40-piece obstacle course and raised over £3,500 for charity.

Hastingwood-based charity, St Clare Hospice partnered up Nuclear Races in Brentwood to hold the Muddy Mayhem event on Sunday, July 7.

All money raised will be going towards funding care and support services for patients and their loved ones across west Essex and east Hertfordshire.

“Muddy Mayhem was our second mud-run event that we’ve hosted with Nuclear Races and included all the renowned Nuclear obstacles like the zip wire and slide.” said Emma Broadbent, challenges and events fundraiser at St Clare Hospice.

“This year, we almost tripled our profits compared to last year’s event, with five times as many people signing up to have some fun in the mud.

“We’d like to thank each and every person who made Muddy Mayhem such a resounding success on Sunday; it’s with thanks to our generous and loyal St Clare supporters that we are able to provide our specialist, palliative care and support to local people and families who need us in the community.”

Ms Broadbent added: “Our charity mud-run events are always so exciting, and we hope that the team had as much fun as we did on the day.

“Although our 40 fun-loving participants emerged covered, head-to-toe, in mud at the end of the race, they definitely went home knowing they’d spent their Sunday supporting a great, local cause. We can’t wait to see everyone again next summer”
