Visitors of Cassiobury Park will be welcomed with new landscapes and shrubs at the entrance of the park.
Development of new landscaping and shrubs at the gateway of Cassio Common, Cassiobury Park, is expected to start today (August 19).
The park, managed by Watford Borough Council and Veolia, will be introducing new shrub beds and a greater diversity of wildlife at the entrance in hope to strengthen and reinforce the picturesque parkland character of Cassiobury Park.
Peter Taylor, Mayor of Watford, has said: “The current rose beds have suffered from pests and diseases. The new shrubs will mean we can start afresh in new locations and create a wonderful new landscape for residents to enjoy.
“Our parks have the highest number of Green Flag awards anywhere in Hertfordshire. I will make sure we continue to invest in our parks to make sure they can be enjoyed by people in our town for many years to come.”
This happens after the £4.95 million Heritage Lottery funding of the Cassiobury Restoration project to improve the park’s facilities was completed in August 2017.
Improvements from the project includes tending Watford’s 104-year-old bandstand, the Rickmansworth Road entrance, paddling pools and the construction of a new hub building.
