An investigation has been launched after a blaze broke out at an industrial unit which took eight fire crews to put out.
The incident on Langston Road, Loughton, was reported to Essex County Fire and Rescue Service at 6pm yesterday, Tuesday, November 12.
Firefighters from Epping, Wlatham Abbey, Harlow, Wickford, Hainault, Chigwell, Woodford and Grays attended to the fire that was extinguished around 9;30pm.
Upon arrival, fire crew reported that what appeared to be a timber framed building, measuring around 50m x 60m, was completely alight.
At 8.30pm group manager Dave Barnard, issued a statement, saying:
"When firefighters arrived they were faced with a rapidly developing fire that was in danger of spreading to a nearby larger warehouse, which contains a number of small businesses.
"Crews from Essex County Fire and Rescue Service and London Fire Brigade have worked incredibly well together to prevent the spreading of the fire and have now confined it to the area it started in.
"Now the fire has been surrounded we'll work to fully extinguish it and then stay at the scene for some time to turn over hotspots and ensure the scene is cool and safe."
No casualties were reported.
