STAFF at Eton Manor Children's Day Nursery in Chigwell say the premises will be closed tomorrow following the death of a two-year-old girl earlier today.
The youngster was taken to Whipps Cross Hospital, Leytonstone, after suffering a cardiac arrest.
The nursery say the death is believed to have been as the result of a "freak playground accident".
Essex Police, which is investigating the death, said that it was currently "unexplained".
A post mortem is to be held.
The nursery, in Roding Lane, will open as usual on Friday.
