A HEAVY metal fan from Hainault has shown he has a Whole Lotta Love for his favourite band.

So much love it's nearly Virgin on the ridiculous.

Upset that he was one of one million die-hard Led Zeppelin fans not to be lucky enough to get a ticket for their one-off concert, Grant Marzell, from Peregrine Road, decided he would put his money where the indelible ink was to win a pair of concert tickets.

In a competition run by Virgin Radio, wannabee concert goers desperate to see the first Led Zeppelin gig in 27 years had to prove they were the biggest fans.

While other Led Zeppers decided to show their commitment to Page and Plant by walking 20 miles bare-chested, or streaking round central London, van driver Grant decided to do something he would always remember.

He got a tattoo to prove his dedication.

And because getting a tattoo of the heavy metal legends would be too easy, the 37-year-old rocker plumped for getting his right arm emblazoned with the bright red Virgin radio logo - complete with bandwidth.

So, for rest of his life, Grant will be sporting a Virgin Radio logo on his right arm in exchange for a pair of Led Zeppelin tickets.

The father-of-four, who had at first had tried winning by getting his chest waxed live on air, said: "It felt amazing to win. I was speechless, there are no words to describe how good it felt. I am such a huge fan. I knew I had to raise the game to win."

But Grant, who was only ten when his rock idols disbanded in 1980, faces going to the show alone despite there being one million fans fighting for tickets.

His best Led Zeppelin friend is being taken to New York by his girlfriend on the weekend of the concert to commiserate the fact that he was unable to get a ticket - until Grant's brush with the indelible-inkwell.

Now he is faced with task of persuading his pal's girlfriend to postpone the New York trip in favour of letting the pair climb the stairway to rock heaven together.

"I'm going round to talk to her," said Grant.

"Maybe she will change her mind and let Ray come after all."
