Above is a postcard of Chingford Green c1910 showing St Peter & St Paul church built in 1844 at a cost of £5,000.
Due to a growing population, the east wing was extended in 1903.
Several items were transferred to it from All Saints (the old church).
They included the medieval bell-frame for the tower and the three bells belonging to it, the Norman font, a 17th-century parish chest and an 18th-century pulpit.
Today the green is flanked by the 1950’s assembly hall and a library, the future of which is uncertain.
