This time of the year is always one for reflection and anticipation.

All those families that have suffered the loss of a loved one are in our thoughts and prayers at this time.

Without a doubt the highlight for me has been how our local community has rallied and come together to face the difficulties and unprecedented challenges brought about by the Covid pandemic.

To our front line health workers, care workers, emergency services, retail workers, teachers and many more who have kept our front line services going, like others, I say thank you.

Lots of community groups have kept going supporting local residents during these difficult months.

I think particularly of our local food projects and Covid-19 support groups who have provided essential support services since March.

All our local support / community groups deserve acknowledgement and our thanks.

In 2021, as the vaccine is rolled out, it is important that our local economy is fully supported by our local councils to enable the quickest possible return to a ‘new’ normal.
