PLANS to introduce new units for the safe keeping of bicycles in roads across Waltham Forest have been revealed.

A notice from the London Borough of Waltham Forest in this week’s Guardian outlines the proposal to introduce the units for residents who do not have the space and/or ability to securely leave their bikes within a reasonable distance from their home.

If the order is approved, permit parking places will be reduced by three metres in locations to accommodate the units in these roads: Adelaide Road E10; Bemsted Road E17; Beresford Road E17; Blenheim Road E17; Borthwick Road E15; Browns Road E17; Bunyan Road E17; Camden Road E17; Courtenay Road E17; Cromwell Road E17; Elphinstone Road E17; Essex Road South E11; Exmouth Road E17; First Avenue E17; Gandhi Close E17; Hainault Road E11; Howard Road E17; Huxley Road E10; Lindley Road E10; Lyndhurst Drive E10; Melbourne Road E10; Norlington Road E10; Oakdale Road E11; Osborne Road E10; Park Grove Road E11; Priory Avenue E17; Radlix Road E10; Roberts Road E17; Sandringham Road E10; Selby Road E11; Seymour Road E10; Shakespeare Road E17; Shrubland Road E10; Southwell Grove E11; Steele Road E11; Thorpe Road E7; Trumpington Road E7; Verulam Avenue E17; Vicarage Road E10; Victoria Road E17; Wesley Road E10; Windsor Road E10.

The council also intends to reduce a resident parking place in Rectory Road E17 by three metres and remove three metres of ‘permits holders only past this point’ in Leyton Grange E10 for this purpose.

Furthermore, the new bike parking units would be provided on the paths in Chingford Court E17 and Priory Court E17.
