A horse and cart has pulled up outside, perhaps to collect some of the meat that was hung outside this Epping Forest butchers in Victorian times.
We have been looking back through our archives and are again pleased to bring you some more pictures showing how many of our traditional high streets have changed over the past 80 years and earlier, including the butcher's shop in Loughton from around 1890 pictured at the top of this page.
The focus is also on roads and shops in Epping, Leyton and Walthamstow this week.
If you have pictures and memories of growing up in Epping Forest or East London you would like to share, ask to join our nostalgia facebook groups at www.facebook.com/groups/eppingforestnostalgia/ and www.facebook.com/groups/eastlondonnostalgia/
