The East London boyband's decision to perform at a 'pro-Brexit' concert was making our headlines five years ago this week.

Their biggest hit may have been “Stay Another Day”, but Walthamstow boyband East 17 are set to perform at a concert supported by the campaign for Britain to leave the EU.

Pro-Brexit group Leave.EU have endorsed “BPop Live” an evening of music at the Genting Arena in Birmingham on June 19 - four days before the EU referendum.

For £23, concert goers will be able to see East 17 and other acts signed up to play the gig, including Alesha Dixon and Sister Sledge.

The event is also expected to feature appearances from a number of familiar speakers on the “leave” side of the referendum debate, including Ukip leader Nigel Farage.

However, 90s pop group Five announced they were pulling out of the event, saying they had become aware the it would be more of a “political rally” than a concert.

BPop Live was originally scheduled to take place on May 8, but was postponed after drum and bass duo Sigma also pulled out, stating they were not aware it was a political event.
