Two people were involved in a police chase before one allegedly pulled a knife on an officer and attempted to slash them.
Police patrolling in a marked vehicle on Thursday evening (March 3) saw a car being driven erratically in Lea Bridge Road, Leyton, before indicating for it to stop.
The car continued to Bridge Road before the passenger and driver got out.
A Met Police spokesperson said: “The passenger was detained in Theydon Street and as the officer went to handcuff him he pulled out a knife and slashed towards the officer before running off.”
The officer was uninjured but the passenger got away.
A police helicopter was called and the car driver was located in Sylvester Road.
He was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class B drugs, failing to stop for police, dangerous driving, possession of a pointed/bladed article, driving not in accordance with a licence, no insurance and theft of motor vehicle.
