A London taxi app has raised enough money for 14,000 trees to be planted across the UK.

Money from customers' optional in-app donations funded a mass planting session at Aston Playing Field, a vast woodland on the M11 near Redbridge.

Taxi app Gett set up a feature that gives customers in the UK the option to add a £1.99 donation to their journeys. All proceeds went to Trees for Cities, a charity that helps create cleaner urban centres.

Gett CEO Matteo De Renzi said: “Gett’s partnership with Trees for Cities is a key part of our broader strategy.

“I’m incredibly proud of both our teams and our customers for sharing such a strong sense of responsibility towards our planet”
