More than 1,400 children and teachers came together to create history with a right royal knees-up.

Pupils and staff from across the two sites of Hillyfield Primary Academy in Walthamstow went to Lloyd Park this week to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee.

Throughout the day, pupils – dressed in red, white and blue – took part in jubilee related activities, including crown making, collage and painting.

They also enjoyed a jubilee packed lunch and learned about the Queen’s reign and there was a flash mob dance performance to Rather Be by Clean Bandit.

Head teacher Pauline Casbolt said: "Seventy years is a long time and we wanted to mark the occasion by bringing the whole school community together. This is the first time in the school’s history that they have been in one place together.

"We hope our children remember coming together as a community and sharing a special moment with their friends, teachers and onlookers.

"We are really proud of the dedication from staff to help make this happen and the behaviour of our pupils during the event - they were amazing."
