Internet shoppers in Leyton will be among the first to use an online rapid grocery service.

Ocado Retail, the world’s largest dedicated online grocery retailer, announced the opening of its third Zoom by Ocado site in Leyton.

Orders can be delivered within 60 minutes or a one-hour slot of a customer’s choosing, with a promise that if an order is late, there is no delivery charge for a customer’s next order.

Ocado said its service, which is a joint venture with Marks & Spencer Group, will create 130 jobs in Leyton.

Head of Zoom by Ocado George Dean said: “We’re delighted to be opening our third site.

“We’re committed to being the best neighbour possible, contributing to the community by way of supporting local suppliers and through charitable partnerships in the area.”

The service aims to stock goods from local businesses, such as East London Liquor, alongside it’s M&S lines.

The company added that the Leyton site will be among the greenest and quietest grocery facilities in the UK.
