CHILD abuse is a huge and ongoing issue and we should never underestimate the effects of it.

My teacher at Aveling Park, Mr Cook, says: "It can have serious psychological effects. It leads to depression, experimenting with solvents, drugs and self harming."

Another teacher, Miss Topp, also links it to a "deterioration in the young person's focus on education".

Other research also shows the link between child abuse and depression, drug and solvent experimentation and also self-harming.

Young people who are dealing with this abhorrent suffering express their experiences in different ways.

Miss Topp says: "They find an outlet for their emotions they can't handle, sometimes violence towards others or towards themselves."

This is a huge concern that many victims of abuse turn to suicide or crime.

Child Abuse is a disgusting, foul and vile activity within our society and the government needs to spend more money on tackling the big issues that surround it.
