These villas were built in the 1880s at a time when Chingford was experiencing an influx of people from London wanting a cleaner, rural place to live, whilst still being able to commute on the newly arrived railway.
Today, the pressure on housing remains as some of these fine homes fall in favour of luxury apartments.
