Three people who were hurt in an east London car crash involving multiple vehicles have non life-threatening injuries, police said.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) was called at 2.05pm yesterday (July 17) to reports of a road traffic collision between three cars on The Ridgeway in Chingford.

Police today (July 18) said that there were no life-threatening injuries.

An image from the scene shows emergency crews attending to a car on its side.

“We sent a number of resources to the scene, including two ambulance crews and members of our Hazardous Area Response Team," a LAS spokesperson said.

“We treated three people at the scene before taking them to hospital.”

A woman was rescued after being trapped in one of the vehicles. She was taken to hospital by LAS crews, a LFB spokesperson said.

A detour was put into operation on The Ridgeway in both directions, according to the AA.

Motorists were asked to avoid the area to help avoid a heavy build up in traffic.

The road has reopened after a cordon was put in place between Endlebury Road and College Gardens on The Ridgeway.
