Firefighters will be putting those hoses to good use at a charity car wash

Following the news that a close friend’s nephew had recently been diagnosed with cancer, Firefighter Michael Tyrrell-Price with Loughton Fire Station's Blue Watch was keen to organise this event as a way of showing support for Cancer Research in recognition of this young man’s cancer battle.

They are doing a car wash on Saturday, September 30 in aid of Cancer Research and the Firefighters' Charity.

This is running at the station, opposite Sainsbury’s in Old Station Road, from 10am to 2pm. They are hoping to raise as much as possible.

Organiser Michael Tyrrell-Price says there is no target, but they hoping to raise as much as possible.

He said: “We’ll splash the water if you splash the cash! Our crew will be ready and waiting to give your car a spruce up in return for a donation to Cancer Research and The Firefighters Charity.

"There is no minimum price for a car wash. Any donation will do. All we ask is that people will turn up on the day.

"Naked Sausage will also be on site providing their delicious homemade sausages and burgers to enjoy while you’re here!"

Although firefighters have no trouble finding hoses or water, the station is thanking Andrew Moring of Slims Detailing in Enfield, which is providing the equipment.
