Two people were injured after a crash between a car and a bike in Leyton.

Police were called to Flempton Road just before 5am this morning (March 11) to reports of a crash.

London Ambulance Service (LAS) also attended, treating two people at the scene.

A police spokesperson has said that neither sustained life-changing or life-threatening injuries.

Earlier, Waltham Forest Council advised drivers to “avoid the area” as Lea Bridge Road was closed off up to Perth Road.

At one point traffic was backed up for half-a-mile towards Whipps Cross Hospital, and bus routes 55 and 56 were put on diversion.

Congestion cleared after the road was re-opened by police at the start of the afternoon.

No arrests have been made and police enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing.
