The old police station at the junction of Loughton High Road and Station Road, seen here in the centre of the picture in c1915, was built in 1860.
However, the police were first based in a small cottage next to Kings Green when Loughton became part of the Metropolitan Police District in 1840.
The current police station was built in 1963.
