A new M&S store is coming to Leytonstone this summer - but an opening date has still not been confirmed.

Marks and Spencer announced plans in November 2024 to open a new 12,000 sq ft food store in the former Matalan unit, at 829-837 High Road.

The retailer previously confirmed that the opening was expected to be in summer 2025.

When asked when it might open, an M&S spokesperson told this paper that there are no updates on the opening date at this stage.

The new M&S Food will feature an in-store bakery and coffee station, as well as flower and wine shops, and a selection of fresh fruit and vegetables.

It is also expected to create more than 50 jobs for the area.

Nick Pucci, regional manager at M&S, previously said it's "fantastic" to be opening the new Leytonstone store in the summer.

He said:"We want to deliver the best possible shopping experience and we can’t wait to start work here in Leytonstone and join the local community."

M&S has this week announced plans to open 12 new food halls at former Homebase stores across the country.
