A community transport scheme helping residents stay independent and connected is being sustained through a new partnership.

The Door to Store service, funded through a new partnership between developer Vistry Group and Community Transport Waltham Forest, supports residents in Walthamstow, Chingford, Leyton and Leytonstone who face barriers to visiting supermarkets.

The scheme offers accessible transport, volunteer assistance, and a chance to reduce social isolation.

Kevin Delve, managing director of Vistry East London, said: "The Door to Store initiative makes a real difference to people’s lives – not just by helping them get to the shops, but by creating opportunities for connection, independence, and community – and so we are delighted to partner with Community Transport Waltham Forest to support the service."

The service, which runs from Tuesday to Thursday, provides door-to-door journeys to supermarkets for just £4 return.

Carers travel free, and volunteers help with shopping and mobility support.

Councillor Ahsan Khan, deputy leader and cabinet member for housing and regeneration at Waltham Forest Council, said: "Thanks to this partnership with Vistry Group and the hard work of Waltham Forest Council’s Social Value Team, the Door to Store initiative will continue to help local people live independently and provide older residents with a welcome opportunity to socialise."
