Get to Know Animals CIC (GTKA) invites you to discover how a small sanctuary in Epping is making a big impact—and how you can be part of our story in 2026.
This year has tested us like never before. Rising costs, fewer visitors, and the daily demands of caring for over 300 rescued animals have meant every day was a challenge.
Yet, through determination and community spirit, GTKA has continued to provide a safe, vibrant haven for animals and people alike.
In 2025, our sanctuary made real progress. We passed our DEFRA inspection and joined the Small Zoo Network, strengthening our standards and connections.
New events like photography days, animal art classes and junior zoo keeper experiences brought fresh faces and creativity to our tropical walkways.
Our conservation programme expanded, welcoming new species and deepening our focus on endangered animals.
We launched a children’s book series and a podcast, sharing rescue stories and animal adventures with a wider audience.

Our animal-assisted therapy sessions made a difference for children with additional needs and adults living with dementia, showing the quiet power of animal companionship.
We also introduced adoption packages and annual memberships - new ways for supporters to connect with our residents and help us continue our work.
A highlight of the year was our magical Santa’s Grotto, which brought hundreds of families together and raised vital funds for animal care.
Every event, every adoption, every visit helps us keep the sanctuary running.
Looking ahead, GTKA is excited to launch more creative events, virtual training, and educational sessions in 2026.
We’re planning a major fundraiser to raise funds for a new enclosure for Lacoste the alligator and to expand our conservation work even further.

Our children’s book series and podcast will continue to share the stories that make GTKA unique.
We need your help to make it happen.
