Smokey is a truly special little cat.
This sweet girl arrived with us in a very poor state after being handed in to a vet practice. She was underweight, frightened and understandably unsure of the world around her.
But with time, patience and kindness, Smokey has transformed. Her progress has been remarkable, and she is now thriving — a testament to her resilience and gentle spirit.
Smokey is ready to continue that journey in a calm, quiet and loving home.
She would suit an adopter who is around for much of the day, as she takes comfort from having someone nearby.
Although she is not a lap cat at the moment, and may never be the sort to climb onto you for cuddles, she forms strong bonds with people she trusts.
Once she feels safe, she absolutely adores a soothing stroke and will seek out gentle affection in her own time and her own way.
She is a very tidy and fuss-free girl when it comes to mealtimes, eating both wet and dry food with no issues at all.
Smokey also has a fun, playful streak that often surprises people.
Put a feather toy on a stick in front of her and she lights up — pouncing, chasing and losing herself completely in the game. It is a wonderful reminder of how far she has come and how much joy she still has to give.
Because of her sensitive nature, Smokey will need a patient adopter who can offer stability, reassurance and plenty of understanding as she continues to build confidence.
She is not a cat who will arrive and immediately feel at home; she needs someone who is happy to go at her pace, allow her space when she needs it and celebrate each little step forward.
