A team of 16 runners will take on the London Marathon on Sunday in aid of Haven House Children’s Hospice – cheered on by the brothers and sisters of seriously ill children.
The group, who have already raised £36,000, are running for the Woodford Green-based hospice, which supports around 450 seriously ill children and their families across local communities including Woodford, Wanstead, Chingford, Leytonstone, Walthamstow and Epping Forest.
Rebecca Hancock, community and events officer at Haven House, said: "Over the past year, it’s been a privilege to support this incredible team.
"They’ve shown unwavering commitment not only to the miles ahead, but to raising awareness and vital funds for the children and families we care for. Their efforts have truly been inspirational."

Haven House provides specialist nursing care, respite, therapies and compassionate end-of-life care.
Each runner has a personal connection to the hospice and a determination to give back.
One runner, Mary, said: "It really is a 'haven' for families during extremely trying circumstances."
Lucy, another member of the team, said: "The staff go above and beyond… it would be an honour to give back."
The runners have spent the past year fundraising through community events, including lemonade stands and black-tie dinners. Their combined efforts have raised enough to fund a Healthcare Support Worker for one year.
The hospice’s sibling support group has also been involved, creating cheering signs for race day. These will be displayed at Haven House’s official cheer point at Mile 17, to the left of Mudchute Station, to encourage the runners as they take on the challenge.
Haven House’s services extend to areas including Woodford, Wanstead, Chingford, Leytonstone, Walthamstow, and Epping Forest.
William, another runner, said: "My family have seen first-hand the brilliant work they do."
Members of the public are invited to join the Haven House cheer squad at Mile 17 to show their support for the runners.
