A woman is fighting for her life after being injured in a crash involving a pedestrian and a van in Leyton.

The incident was reported to the Metropolitan Police at 9.07am this morning (April 23) at the junction of High Road and Millais Road.

Officers were dispatched to the scene alongside the London Ambulance Service where the pedestrian, a woman in her 70s, was found injured.

She has been taken to hospital with life-threatening and potentially life-changing injuries.

The driver, a man in his 60s, was uninjured.

No arrests have been made at this stage.

A London Ambulance Service spokesperson said: “We were called at 9.02am today (23 April) to reports of a road traffic collision at the junction of High Road Leyton and Millais Road, E15.

“We sent an ambulance crew, paramedics in fast response cars and an incident response officer to the scene. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a patient at the scene and took her to a major trauma centre.”
