A mum was left in a coma after running through flames to rescue her child from a devastating house fire before the roof collapsed.
Jenny wrapped her seven-year-old girl in a wet towel to protect her from the blaze, which left the mum with severe burns.
The fire on March 14 destroyed their home above a Subway in Chingford Mount leaving Jenny homeless and their future in jeopardy, reports sister site London Now.
Ruby Basstoe, 21, Jenny's elder daughter, described her mum and sister’s dramatic escape.
She said: “The fire started and my mum said her only thought was to get Gracie, my sister, out.
“So my mum actually wet a towel, she put a towel under cold water, put it over my sister and picked my sister up and had to run through the fire.
“That's how my mum got so badly burned. My mum suffered 23 per cent burns.
“My sister only got a concussion from where rubble from the roof had fallen on her.”
They left through a fire door onto the roof of the Wishing Well pub where further heroism led them to safety.
She continued: “They was on the roof calling for help and about six or seven members of the public helped get my mum and my sister down off of the roof - it's amazing.

“They helped her so much. And then they took her into the pub and they was putting water on her, trying to cool her burns down.”
Jenny’s injuries were so severe that she was placed in an induced coma before being transferred for specialist burn treatment.
It took 70 firefighters over two hours put the fire out on Hall Lane in which the roof and an internal staircase partially collapsed.
The incident is now being investigated by the Met Police and London Fire Brigade who have been contacted for the latest update.
For Ruby, who studies at university in Colchester, it has been a very stressful period.
She first heard the news of the fire from her mum’s estate agent.
She said: “[My mum’s letting agent] sent me a WhatsApp message going, just heard about the fire, hope your mum and sister are okay.”
After receiving a call from her aunt, Ruby raced back to London and went round all the major hospitals looking for her mother.
Ruby is now looking after her sister and has had to put her studies on hold while she helps her now homeless mother rebuild her life.
She is leading an urgent search for a new home and has set up a GoFundMe towards her mother’s living costs.
A month later, the council has not been able to find Jenny a place to live in the borough leaving her living in a hotel.
Ruby wrote in the fundraiser: “The emotional and physical toll of the fire is immense, and the road to recovery will be long.
“Our mum now faces the daunting task of rebuilding her life from scratch once she has recovered.”
