Two busy Walthamstow roads to have restrictions this month

Waltham Forest Council has issued notice of two separate orders under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, both intended to facilitate works in a "safe and efficient manner".

The first order covers Hatherley Road in E17, where access restrictions are required for regeneration works in Hatherley Mews. A section of Hatherley Road will be used to store materials and equipment, resulting in a ban on waiting or loading “at any time” and the suspension of controlled parking spaces.

The affected area is on the south side of Hatherley Road, between the south-western kerb-line of Hatherley Mews and the boundary between 7 and 9 Hatherley Road.

The order will take effect from June 22, and will be valid for up to six months, although the works are expected to be completed within two months.

A second order affects Forest Drive East in E11, where lead service pipe replacement works will be carried out by Thames Water. This will require a section of Forest Drive East to be closed to motor vehicles between the boundaries of 54 and 56, and 48 and 50 Forest Drive East.

Controlled parking spaces in this area will also be suspended for the duration of the works. Alternative routes will be signposted and include Essex Road South, James Lane, Clare Road, and Forest Drive East in both directions.

An additional diversion may be available via Essex Road South, Hainault Road, Colworth Road, Forest Road, and Clare Road except during restricted times.

That order comes into effect on June 27, and will be valid for up to three months, though works are expected to last just two days. In both cases, the restrictions do not apply to vehicles used for the works, or for emergency services if access is possible.
