Walthamstow Soho Theatre to host show 'Little Wimmin'

Figs in Wigs will bring their play Little Wimmin to Soho Theatre in Walthamstow on December 2 and 3, 2026.

The show, a surreal reimagining of Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women, features absurdist humour, feminist themes, and environmental commentary in a bold retelling of the classic novel.

The company has described the piece as a theatrical rollercoaster which "Figs in Wigs gleefully send the classic spinning off course before dismantling it entirely, mutating it into an outrageous cartoon catastrophe that ricochets through climate change, astrology and the infinite nature of the universe."

Figs in Wigs, made up of Alice Roots, Sarah Moore, Suzanna Hurst, Ray Gammon, and Rachel Porter, have earned praise for their unique blend of comedy and live art. Their latest show invites audiences to question the past, critique the present, and laugh their way into an uncertain future—if there even is one.

Figs in Wigs said: "Little Wimmin is a shape-shifting theatrical experience that spirals far beyond its literary origins. Prepare to laugh at theatre, literary tradition, the climate crisis, and perhaps even the end of the world."

The production, co-commissioned by HOME Manchester and Cambridge Junction, was created with funding from Arts Council England and support from arts organisations including Battersea Arts Centre and New Diorama Theatre. Both performances in Walthamstow will be BSL interpreted by Becky Barry.
