CHARITY abseiler Harry Joseph – at the age of 92 - has made it into the Guinness Book of Records as the oldest man in the world to abseil 110ft after abseiling down the 110ft Church Langley water tower to raise money for St Clare Hospice.
Harry took part in the event, organised by the Rotary Club of Harlow Tye, and raised £600 for the Hastingwood-based charity.
Hospice spokesman Giles Wright said: “We were all amazed that Harry was so keen to take part, especially as both Vicky Parker (the hospice’s community fundraiser) and I were so nervous at the thought of taking part.
“This truly is a remarkable achievement, not only completing the abseil, but also raising a large amount of money and then deservedly being recognised internationally for his success! Well done to him and many thanks from all of us at St Clare.”
