Saffron Walden 267-7(dec)
South Woodford 189-a/o

(Premier League)

SOUTH Woodford will go into the final week of the season knowing nothing other than a win will do to try and save their Premier League status following this latest set-back at Saffron Walden.

The hosts opened the batting and led by the irexcellent skipper Joe Holland (138), posted a very dominating total.

That was despite Pratik Acharya picking up three wickets, while both Salim Akbar and skipper Richard Browne took out two victims each.

In reply South struggled to chase down such a daunting total, and while Nick Browne (89) got amongst the runs, there proved no support at the other end.

The Highfield Road outfit go into the final game ten points adrift of relegation-rivals Chingford, knowing they need a win, while the Forestsiders will have to slip up against Ardleigh Green for them to survive.

Skipper Browne said: “It was always going to be a difficult total to chase down, but we have got to pick ourselves up because nothing other than a win will do at the weekend.”
