A CHINGFORD mother and rising star in the world of bodybuilding has achieved a top work ranking after taking part in a competition in America.
Annabel Ottey, 43, of Waltham Way, travelled to Washington for the prestigious event after being crowned British Natural Bodybuilding Federation champion earlier this year.
The University of East London (UEL) sports science student finished a creditable seventh in a tough field, much to the delight of her husband and two teenage sons.
Mrs Ottey said: “I’m really delighted to have come seventh in Washington, which means top ranking world-wide and to meet my goal of winning the British title, which I did in October this year. My husband competes as well in the shows and my kids are really proud of me.
“I intend to continue competing next year too and one of my further aims is to become a Lecturer at UEL in sports and exercise.”
A personal trainer fro several years, Mrs Ottey started training as a bodybuilder after completing the London Marathon in 2002.
Marcia Wilson, programme leader for sports science at UEL said: “Annie’s dedication to her sport is a great example to everyone at UEL. We are very proud that she is the British Champion – that’s a real achievement.”
