WITH three wins from their last four league games, are the Daggers back to their best? One way to find out would be to pit them against the league's finest and funnily enough, that's just what's in store for Garry Hill's men in the next two weeks.

The Daggers face the Conference's top two teams, Chester and Hereford, in the space of six days, starting with a trip to the Deva Stadium this Saturday, and this will be the ultimate test to see whether they still have what it takes to cut it with the big boys.

Famous for pulling out all the stops when the pressure is on and raising their game against big name opponents, the Daggers will take on a Chester side that have been sitting at the top of the league since the beginning of November.

Many may have already accepted that Mark Wright's men have the league title all sewn up, but that doesn't interest the Daggers this season. Now it is a case of attaining maximum points if the dream of making the play-offs is to become a reality.

Back in October, the two teams drew 0-0 at Victoria Road when Chester failed to live up to their goalscoring reputation as they sat back and soaked up the Daggers pressure. But now that time is precious, and points are even more so, the Daggers know that a point just won't be enough.

Last season when the late race to reach the play-offs was on, the Daggers wrapped up their seventh successive win with a 1-0 victory over Chester to put them three points adrift of the top five, but with goalscorer on the day Steve Watts now having left, Garry Hill will be looking to his new front pairing to work their magic.

Despite the Daggers having strengthened their team with the return of Tony Roberts between the sticks and Chris Moore and Kirk Jackson slowly becoming a strike force to be reckoned with, this will be no walk in the park against a side who have only lost three times all season, with only one of those defeats coming on home soil.

The only missing link for the Daggers will be Chris Piper who serves his one game suspension after picking up five yellow cards this season.

Daryl Clare and Darryn Stamp will as usual be the dangermen for Chester with 37 goals between them, a total which is only ten short of what the entire Daggers squad have clocked up between them all season.
