A FREE public lecture about the protection of children by social workers will be given at the University of East London (UEL).

UEL humanities professor Steve Trevillion will discuss concerns about failures to protect children, taking into account the Baby P case, and their historical context.

Prof Trevillion said: “The media spotlight has been on services for children and families, yet the debate about the nature and scope of prevention affects all aspects of social work.”

Visitors will get the chance to ask questions to a panel of experts.

The lecture will take place on October 15 at 5.15pm, at the West Building Lecture Theatre, on the university's Docklands campus.

For further details and to confirm attendance call UEL on 8223 2884 or events@uel.ac.uk
