FORTY years after the introduction of the colour television licence, dozens of people in Wanstead and Woodford still watching on a black and white set, it has emerged.
A total 77 people still hold the old-style licences across the area, with 55 in the E11 postcode, 7 in E18 and 15 in IG8.
Television can now be watched in more ways than ever before, with people streaming shows online, recording them on their set-top boxes and even catching up on their favoutite shows on their mobile phones. But despite this, some people still enjoying watching TV on a monochrome set.
TV Licensing spokesperson, Ian Fannon, said: "These figures show TV has never been more popular across the spectrum, and with so many ways to watch TV now available, it's important people are aware of their legal responsibilities.”
