THE council's licensing act sub-committee is to meet tomorrow to decide the fate of a troubled Leytonstone pub.

Councillors will discuss the Sheepwalk, in High Road Leytonstone, after a review of its licence was called.

Residents had complained to police that the pub was trading past permitted hours and also that children were being served alcohol and drug dealing was taking place.

Officers attended the pub on February 27 this year after reports of an assault inside and were informed there was no CCTV footage of the incident as cameras were not working.

Police also ran a covert operation earlier this year, which found that both drug dealing and the sale of alcohol to children were taking place in the pub.

Between 2007 and 2009, there were 10 reports of crimes at the pub including public order offences, assaults and possession of cocaine.

Local residents also mounted a petition for security to be tightened at the pub and for an over-21s policy to be implemented.

The meeting tomorrow will decide whether the Sheepwalk is allowed to keep its licence.
