ARSENE WENGER has hit out at the Premier League fixture list after seeing his side lose more ground in the title race with a 1-1 draw at Burnley on Wednesday.

Cesc Fabregas' early strike had given the Gunners the lead but that was cancelled out when Graham Alexander slammed home a penalty kick after Thomas Vermaelen had fouled Andre Bikey after almost half an hour.

With Manchester United and Chelsea both winning in midweek, Arsenal are now eight points off the pace with a game in hand.

Next up for Wenger's team is the visit of struggling Hull City to the Emirates, but the manager moved to criticise the congested fixture schedule, with Phil Brown's men having not played since December 12.

"The guy who organised the fixtures this season must have come from a special school, because he's more intelligent than I am," said Wenger.

"I think the Premier League has a basic promise to organise the fixtures in a normal way.

"For sure, (the fixture organisers) have never played football, organising midweek games in a week when you have a Europa League programme," added Wenger.

"We have some teams who do not play at all. We play Sunday and Wednesday away and at home on Saturday against Hull, who have not played all week."

Wenger also slammed Mick McCarthy's decision to rest his entire starting XI for Wolves' trip to Manchester United on Tuesday, which they went on to lose 3-0.

"We will have to compete with Manchester United over 37 games instead of 38," said Wenger.

"I believe it is a problem for the international credibility of the Premier League, but it is not my problem, it is a Premier League problem."
